Anti-Spam Question:

Paxil, also known as Paroxetine, belongs to a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) and is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and social anxiety disorder (social phobia). Manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline and was introduced in the U.S. in December 1992.

A class action complaint has been filed in Los Angeles, California by thirty-five people who say they suffered from "severe withdrawal reactions" after taking the anti-depressant Paxil.

The complaint alleges that the drug "is more addictive" and "has a greater tendency to induce physical and physiological dependency" than other anti-depressants. A section of the complaint charges that "GlaxoSmithKline has known for years the distinct characteristics of Paxil which make it prone to cause withdrawal reactions when discontinued."

Some of the side effects suffered by Paxil users include dizziness, spinning sensations, swaying or difficulty walking, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, lethargy, muscle pain, chills, tingling, electric shock sensations, feelings of intense agitation or anxiety, nervousness or trouble concentrating, changes in taste, insomnia and vivid dreams, sadness, impotence and even suicidal feelings. Call your doctor immediately if you are taking Paxil and are experiencing any of these symptoms.
