New York Lotronex Injury Attorneys

Lotronex, also known as Alosetron, is a drug typically used to treat irritable bowel syndrome in women was manufactured by Glaxo Wellcome.

Lotronex was pulled from the markets in November 2000, after reports that use of the drug caused intestinal damage as a result of reduced blood flow to the intestine (ischemic colitis), severely obstructed or ruptured bowels (complications of severe constipation), and death. Use of this product resulted in hospitalization, removal of a patient's colon and bowel surgery.

Several lawsuits have been filed against the manufacturer, suggesting that the manufacturer knew of the dangers and downplayed the likelihood that Lotronex could cause dangerous constipation and even death.
