New York Fen Phen Lawyers
FenPhen, also known as Redux, pondimin, fenfluramine, dexfenfluramine, phentermine - was the miracle diet drug. This drug was taken by nearly six million consumers before it was determined to cause severe heart-valve and lung damage and was pulled from the market in September of 1997. There were reports of more than 120 deaths associated with use of Redux.
Numerous lawsuits and class action suits were filed nationwide following serious heart and lung problems associated with these diet drugs. A settlement was reached with the manufacturer for more than $4 Billion in compensation and to pay for medical screening.
The Fen-Phen settlement currently includes 295,000 people. The settlement is now final and persons must file a claim if they desire to do so by August 2002. Eligibility is open to all persons who used the drug, and persons with serious injuries such as heart valve damage, lung disease or primary pulmonary hypertension may be eligible for significant compensation.
